We like to talk, like a lot. Sometimes we write about things that are important to our customers. And sometimes, well we just write things because we don’t know what else to do with ourselves.
Artist Spotlight: Lazerbeak – Luther
Hey folks! Welcome back to another segment of Artist Spotlight, where we take time to showcase the talented artists we work with. This time Copycats got to bother Aaron Mader, A.K.A Lazerbeak, about his new solo album Luther. Beak is a multi-faceted, label managing, beat composing, super-dad of the internationally known rap group Doomtree. Artistically distinct from his previous compositions, Luther brings Aaron’s s new outlook on life into audible form. Here’s some inside from his new release. Artist Spotlight: Anna Nalick
Anna Nalick’s fourth studio release, “At Now”, is a collection of pop/alternative and folk/Americana tunes that paint an authentic portrait of the songwriter’s development to date. Visceral poetry and raw storytelling are supported by emotionally rich melodies and production. The artist’s voice has developed along with her writing to reveal the depth of seductive soulfulness and strength through vulnerability that has been budding since she debuted with her multi-platinum selling solo-written album, “Wreck of the Day”, featuring first hit single, “Breathe(2AM)”, when she was a teenage songstress over 10 years ago. While “At Now” is a departure from previous albums, […]

Macklemore & Ryan Lewis really wanted to bring back the feeling of being excited about bands having a physical product. A tangible thing that you can hold in your hand. This was especially important with iTunes dominating the way people buy records. Copycats was honored to bring something unique into the world. Now, lets […]
Artist Spotlight: Cameron Mizell & Destiny Records
Cameron Mizell, a Brooklyn resident for the past decade-plus, was educated in music at the University of North Texas and Indiana University. In New York City, he has played with rock bands, singer-songwriters, bluegrass acts and Latin groups, as well as for Broadway musicals and dance companies. The second solo guitar release from Mizell, Memory/Imagination, features nine deeply emotional improvisations. Each piece is a meditation on the fight for social justice in America. The resulting music is contemplative, dark, and vulnerable, but offers glimmers of hope and perseverance–abstract soundtracks to the imagination of a solitary musician. Accompanying the album’s release […]
